Used by the Air Force.. Ukraine announces the attack on a fuel depot in Russia

The Ukrainian army announced that it had struck a fuel depot in Russia at night, located 500 kilometers from the border between the two countries, which it said was being used by the Russian Air Force to bomb Ukraine.

The Ukrainian Army Staff said via the Telegram application: “We attacked the Compaint Crystal fuel depot in Engels in the Saratov region during the night.”

This attack is the latest in a series of escalating cross-border strikes carried out by Moscow and Kiev, targeting energy and military installations, nearly 3 years after the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

32 Ukrainian drones were shot down

The Ukrainian General Staff said that the targeted Russian oil depot “provides fuel to the Ingelz-2 military airfield, where the enemy’s strategic aviation is based.”
Russian officials acknowledged in previous statements that Ukraine attacked the region with drones.

The Russian Defense Ministry said that air defense systems shot down 32 Ukrainian drones overnight, including 11 drones, over the Saratov region.

The governor of the region, Roman Busargin, said that a team from the Emergency Response Authority was sent to an industrial facility where a fire broke out after an attack by a Ukrainian march, without specifying the nature of the facility, but he confirmed that there were no casualties.

Reducing Russian energy revenues

Kiev says its attacks on Russian oil facilities are part of its efforts to reduce Russian energy revenues used to finance the war in Ukraine.

The General Staff said, “The destruction of the oil depot causes serious logistical problems for the strategic aviation of the Russian occupation, and significantly reduces its ability to strike Ukrainian cities and civilian targets.”

Meanwhile, Kiev said that Ukrainian air defense systems shot down 41 Russian drones overnight, while electronic jamming systems shot down another 22 drones.

In the Kherson region in southern Ukraine, which Russia says belongs to it, the authorities said that two people were killed and five others were injured by Russian artillery fire and drones.
