المملكة: To enhance compliance with regulations, “Transport” monitors 20,000 violations during December

The General Transport Authority announced the implementation of more than 290,000 inspections last December, with the aim of enhancing compliance with the rules and regulations governing various land, sea and rail transport activities in the Kingdom.
These efforts come within the framework of the Authority’s keenness to raise the level of compliance and achieve the highest standards of safety and quality in the transportation sector.

Sector inspections

According to the Authority’s report, the total number of inspections in the land transport sector reached 280,604, recording a compliance rate of 94%. In the maritime transport sector, 9,631 inspections were carried out, with a high compliance rate of 99%. As for the rail transport sector, it achieved a full compliance rate of 100% through 39 inspections.

In the context of monitoring violations, the Authority recorded 20,732 violations during this period, including 46 violations in the maritime transport sector.

Warnings and violations

The Authority also issued 5,153 warnings to violators, giving them a period of up to 10 days to correct their situation before taking legal measures against them.
The most prominent violations observed included operating unregistered trucks for internal transport without the Authority’s approval, registering transport vehicles without an operating card, in addition to the lack of printed transport documents.

The report showed the distribution of the observed violations by region, with the Riyadh region topping the list with 7,502 violations, followed by the Makkah Al-Mukarramah region with 6,492 violations, then the Eastern Province with 1,865 violations. While other regions recorded lower rates, such as the northern border with 184 violations and the Al-Baha region with 113 violations.

Increasing the efficiency of services provided

The Public Transport Authority confirmed that these operations come within the framework of its ongoing efforts to enhance compliance and raise the efficiency of services provided in the transportation sector, stressing the importance of all workers in the sector adhering to the rules and regulations to ensure a safe and sustainable transportation environment.
The authority called on all operators and beneficiaries to correct any existing violations, indicating that it will not hesitate to take legal measures against violators.

The Authority indicated that these efforts come within its strategy to achieve the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, by enhancing the competitiveness of the transportation sector and developing its infrastructure in line with the highest international standards.
