Announcing the names of the winners of the fourth session of the competition "Friends of the Arabic language"

Abu Dhabi, January 9, 2024 – The Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center announced the names of the winners of the fourth session of the Friends of the Arabic Language 2024 competition, which is dedicated to students who speak Arabic and non-Arabic speakers.

The competition witnessed competition between more than a thousand participants from Arab and foreign countries, recording a 400% increase since its launch 4 years ago.

Maryam Youssef Al Marzouqi, from the UAE, won first place, Maram Abdel Latif Hajjaj, from Egypt, won second place, while Ismail Abdel Latif Daas, from Syria, came in third place, according to the results of the evaluation of the sent videos, which reflected the experiences of the participants and their relationship with the Arabic language. It fulfilled the conditions of the specialized committee, which adopted objective criteria to sort the entries, most notably language proficiency, correct pronunciation of letters, quality of stress and intonation, and correct pauses, in addition to compatibility. Between text and body language.

The competition, in which each winner receives 10,000 dirhams, seeks to focus on the aesthetics of delivery while realizing the proportionality between pronunciation and content, and the meanings and emotions contained in the text presented by the participants that the participant must interact with.

His Excellency Saeed Hamdan Al Tunaiji, Executive Director of the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre, said that the Friends of the Arabic Language Competition is one of the specific initiatives run by the Centre, with the aim of consolidating the aesthetics of the Arabic language in the hearts of new generations from the early stages of life.

He pointed out that the competition operates at the Arab and international levels, according to disciplined scientific axes that address the basic skills of dealing with the language, understanding its meanings, and appreciating its aesthetics, in order to be able to use it for self-expression.

The Center annually organizes the “Friends of the Arabic Language” competition, which targets students in the age group from 8 to 16 years, and organizes school workshops that encourage students to participate, which contributes to establishing the Arabic language as a source of inspiration and pride for emerging generations.
