The UAE confirms its commitment to doubling efforts to produce clean and renewable energy

ABU DHABI, 12 JANUARY / WAM / The United Arab Emirates has affirmed its commitment to doubling efforts in the field of clean and renewable energy production, which is an essential step towards achieving its climate neutrality strategy 2050, stressing the importance of achieving the goals of the “historic UAE Agreement”, which was reached during COP28, which calls for tripling renewable energy production and doubling the rate of energy efficiency improvement by 2030.

This came in the UAE’s speech before the 15th session of the General Assembly of the International Renewable Energy Agency, held in Abu Dhabi until tomorrow, Monday, and delivered today by Her Excellency Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahhak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment.

In her UAE speech, Her Excellency Amna Al Dahak called on countries to strengthen their commitments, focus on project flexibility and stimulate private investment, stressing the importance of global cooperation for a “more sustainable energy future.”

At the General Assembly press conference, Her Excellency Amna Al Dahhak stressed the need to bridge the gap in the issue of spreading renewable energy, reviewing the UAE’s commitment to supporting developing countries through targeted investments, including the Altera Fund, the largest private investment vehicle in the world to finance climate action, and the “Investment Initiative Green Africa, which leads clean energy projects across the continent.

Her Excellency also called for a cooperative and comprehensive approach to the global energy transition, urging countries to set ambitious goals for renewable energy and provide attractive environments for private investment.

Her Excellency highlighted the role of the International Renewable Energy Agency in assessing progress and informing strategic decisions as the world prepares for the COP30 Conference of the Parties in the Brazilian city of Belém.

In addition to the official session of the association, Her Excellency the Minister of Climate Change and Environment participated in a youth dialogue session organized by the agency, during which she stressed the importance of the role of youth in finding practical solutions to the climate crisis. Her Excellency called on young people to seize the opportunities available in the renewable energy sector, and advised them to persevere in achieving their dreams, and to be keen on building strong relationships and committing to a clear vision for the future, citing her own professional experience.
