The UAE participates in the “India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor” conference in Italy

Minister of State Saeed Al Hajri participated in the “India-Middle East and Europe Economic Corridor – IMEC” conference, which was held in the Italian city of Trieste, in a step that confirms the UAE’s commitment to strengthening the investment partnership with the Italian Republic and expanding the horizons of cooperation between the two countries.
The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Italian Trade Agency participated in organizing the conference, and it brought together under its umbrella a group of senior officials, active institutions and business leaders from Europe, India, the Middle East, the United States and other partner countries, to discuss paths for implementing the economic corridor project between India, the Middle East and Europe.
Al-Hajri stated that the UAE and sisterly and friendly countries have been facing treacherous attacks from Iran for three weeks, since the beginning of the Iranian attacks against the UAE, which included the launch of more than 2,063 ballistic missiles and drones targeting infrastructure, civilian sites, and vital facilities, which led to the martyrdom of 2 members of the armed forces while performing their national duty, the killing of 6 civilians, and the injury of 158 people.
He stressed that these attacks represent a grave violation of international law, the Charter of the United Nations, and international humanitarian law, a violation of the sovereignty of the UAE and a number of sisterly and friendly countries, and a direct threat to its security and stability. They have also disrupted global trade, maritime routes, and energy security, extending their effects beyond the region.
He stressed that the United Arab Emirates will remain a state of safety and stability, on whose soil more than 200 nationalities live in harmony, and that it does not compromise in protecting its sovereignty, reserves its full right to self-defense, and seeks sustainable regional stability based on respect for the sovereignty of countries and non-interference in their affairs.
He added: Despite these challenges, the UAE continues to perform its role as a major global center for logistics services and international connectivity. He also pointed out that initiatives such as the IMEC corridor represent an essential pillar for enhancing economic flexibility and securing supply chains, stressing that the success of their implementation depends on effective government coordination, active participation from the private sector, and providing appropriate financing mechanisms.
The UAE’s participation in the conference confirmed the country’s pivotal role in implementing the economic corridor project between India, the Middle East and Europe, as it contributed to its establishment as one of the primary signatories to the founding memorandum of understanding for this initiative, which was launched during the 2023 G20 Summit in New Delhi.
As a strategic bridge linking the economies of Asia, the Middle East and Europe, the UAE is in an exceptional position to enhance investment, trade and logistics flows through the corridor, supported by world-class ports, integrated platforms in the field of logistics services, advanced digital connectivity assets, and strong investment frameworks.
