المملكة: “Health” warns against misuse of home heating and provides instructions to avoid risks

The Ministry of Health confirmed that home heating is considered a necessary need during the winter, but using it without taking into account safety requirements may lead to serious health damage, most notably exposure to carbon monoxide gas.
The Ministry explained that home heaters vary according to the energy source and method of operation into two main types. The first is electric heaters, which rely on electricity to produce thermal energy and includes oil heaters and heat-ray heaters, and the second is heaters that rely on combustion to generate heat using materials such as gas, kerosene, coal, and firewood, and includes heaters. Gas, kerosene, coal and firewood.
The Ministry indicated that the Saudi market provides multiple types of heaters, including fan, oil, radial, tubular, and agricultural heaters, stressing the importance of adhering to preventive instructions when using these devices.
Instructions for using electric heaters included the necessity of choosing heaters equipped with an automatic shut-off button, placing them away from curtains and flammable materials, avoiding covering them during operation, and ensuring that they are connected to direct electrical sockets to avoid accidents.
With regard to heaters that rely on combustion, the Ministry recommended the need to ventilate the place well and install carbon monoxide detectors near bedrooms, with periodic inspection of the heater to ensure its safety, noting that heaters that rely on combustion may emit carbon monoxide, which is an odorless gas. color and smell, and poses a great danger to human health, while oil heaters that rely on electricity do not emit any harmful gases.
The Ministry confirmed that all heaters available in the market conform to Saudi standard specifications, calling on everyone to adhere to usage instructions to ensure safety and avoid health risks.
