"Dialogue of civilizations and tolerance" Focuses on artificial intelligence and its impact on societal values

ABU DHABI, 3rd June, 2017 (WAM) – Dr. Ahmed Al Mansouri, Assistant Professor in the Department of Media and Creative Industries at the United Arab Emirates University, confirmed that the Third International Conference on Dialogue of Civilizations and Tolerance represents an important global platform that brings together thought and opinion leaders from various parts of the world to discuss issues of building civilizations and promoting the values ​​of tolerance and coexistence.

Al Mansouri said, in a statement on the sidelines of the Third International Conference on Dialogue of Civilizations and Tolerance held in Abu Dhabi, that the conference comes as a continuation of the efforts aimed at consolidating dialogue between cultures and promoting common human values, by attracting an elite group of academics, experts and decision-makers to discuss the challenges and contemporary issues facing societies.

He added that the conference sessions this year focused specifically on artificial intelligence and the impact of modern media on family and societal values, noting that the discussions addressed ways to benefit from modern technologies and harness them to serve communities, in addition to enabling individuals and families to deal with the challenges associated with excessive use of technology and the negative effects that it may have on the individual and society.

He explained that the session in which he participated, entitled “Soft Power and Building Bridges of Communication,” highlighted the UAE’s model in building international reputation and enhancing its position as a global platform for tolerance, peace, and cultural communication, thanks to the forward-looking vision of the wise leadership and the continuous efforts that contributed to consolidating the country’s position as a model to be emulated globally.

He pointed out that the UAE has gone beyond the concept of soft power to the concept of “smart power,” by employing the various capabilities and resources available in society to build the Emirati narrative and deliver its message to the world, as a land of peace, coexistence, and convergence of civilizations.

Al Mansouri stressed that the UAE was and will remain a global model in providing an environment in which everyone enjoys security, stability and peace, and it constantly seeks to contribute to building a safer and more stable world through dialogue, understanding and cooperation between peoples.
