Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that Minister Abdel Ati praised during the discussions session the positive results of holding the first round of political consultation sessions between Egypt and Luxembourg at the level of senior officials in April 2024, and stressed the aspiration to enhance economic and trade cooperation between the two countries and seize opportunities. investment that Egypt enjoys in view of the comprehensive development in the business environment in Egypt, especially in the fields of energy, smart cities, the digital economy and banking services, pointing to the importance of launching a joint business council in a way that contributes to Improving the level of economic cooperation between the two countries.

 

Abdel Aty welcomed Luxembourg’s support for Egypt within the European Union institutions and welcomed the European Commission’s decision to disburse one billion euros, the value of the first tranche of the financial package, and looked forward to Luxembourg’s support to the European Commission and the European Parliament to ensure voting in favor of the second tranche, worth 4 billion euros.

 

The official spokesman added that the consultations witnessed the discussion of regional and international situations of common interest, most notably the situation in the Gaza Strip, where Abdel Ati praised Luxembourg’s position in support of the Palestinian cause and achieving an immediate ceasefire and the entry of aid into the Gaza Strip, in addition to supporting the work of UNRWA. He also reviewed The continued Egyptian efforts to reach an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, stressing the need to stop the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip and its violations of international law and international humanitarian law.

 

 The two ministers also touched on the latest developments in the situation in Syria, where Minister Abdel-Ati reviewed the determinants of the Egyptian position, most notably the necessity of respecting Syrian sovereignty and the unity and integrity of its lands, and the importance of launching a comprehensive political process with Syrian ownership and leadership with the participation of all components of the Syrian people in a way that preserves security and stability in Syria.< /span>

 

The two ministers also discussed developments in Sudan, Libya, Egyptian water security, navigation security in the Red Sea, and the Horn of Africa region, stressing the direct link between security and stability in the Horn of Africa and Egyptian national security.
