The UAE is an inspiring model that spans more than 25 years in the content industry

Executive Director of the Media Strategy and Policy Sector at the Emirates Media Council, Maitha Majid Al Suwaidi, confirmed that the UAE represents a global model in developing the content industry sector, noting that the country has invested over more than 25 years in building advanced infrastructure and attracting talent from all over the world. This came during her participation in a session entitled “Infrastructure for the Content Creation Economy” at the Billion Follow Summit with the participation of His Excellency Abdul Rahman Majrashi, Head of the Government Communication Center and official spokesman for the Saudi Ministry of Information, where she indicated that the content industry sector is witnessing rapid growth and provides exceptional economic opportunities that must be taken advantage of and built upon. To continue the growth and prosperity of this new sector.

Al Suwaidi explained that the size of the content industry sector currently amounts to $250 billion, and is expected to exceed $500 billion in the coming years, likening its size to the gross domestic product of a country like Singapore or five European countries combined, such as Iceland, Luxembourg, Malta, Estonia, and Cyprus.

She pointed out that the legislative system in the Emirates constitutes a basic pillar for stimulating the content industry economy, stressing that the country is constantly working to update legislation to keep pace with the rapid transformations in the digital and media sector, with the aim of protecting the rights of influencers and the public and enhancing transparency and commitment to professional standards.
