Los Angeles fires: Providing free masks due to the spread of ash and dust
As the devastating wildfires that have wreaked havoc in Los Angeles County enter their second week, the city said it is concerned about the health effects of smoke on those most at risk.
Emergency
Los Angeles declared a health emergency last Friday, due to the formation of huge amounts of smoke and fine dust in the air.
Individuals who suffer from allergies are advised not to leave their homes, keep windows and doors closed, avoid strenuous physical activities, and, if possible, use air conditioners or air filters.

Microbes suspended in the air
N95 masks are scheduled to be available in public facilities, including libraries, entertainment centers, and retirement homes.
It is noteworthy that the code “N95” refers to the category of filter used, according to the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health in the United States.
Any mask obtaining the “N95” certificate means that it is able to prevent at least 95% of particles or microbes suspended in the air from reaching the user in the worst conditions.
