In addition to the state’s approach to adopting advanced technology and employing it to achieve a qualitative shift in energy systems, and to advance economic progress in a way that ensures stability and prosperity for societies.

The opening ceremony began with the UAE’s national anthem, then a “film” was shown that focused on the importance of achieving interconnection between advanced technology, especially artificial intelligence, the energy sector, and human expertise, to advance development and build a sustainable future.

The Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Masdar, Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, delivered an opening speech in which he welcomed Their Highnesses the Sheikhs, leaders and representatives of countries, and officials, guests of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, praising the support of the wise leadership, which contributed to consolidating the position of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week as a pioneering platform to stimulate… Sustainable development globally.

He said: “Thanks to the guidance and support of the wise leadership, the UAE has presented to the world a practical model of the concept of a qualitative shift from the present to the future, as the country is distinguished by its combination of adherence to heritage and traditions on the one hand, and leadership in adopting the best and latest qualitative innovations on the other hand,” noting that The late founder, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul, transformed the impossible into a tangible reality. He turned sand into land. It was fertile and laid the foundations that contributed to the UAE becoming a leading and advanced country in the energy sector.

He added, “The forward-looking vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan is a source of inspiration that guides us to reach new horizons, and thanks to his sound guidance and support, we have achieved unprecedented achievements in the field of solar energy, starting with developing the largest solar station in one location in the world, all the way to developing A world-leading plant in the field of water desalination, and in the field of wind energy, we have established our leadership by developing plants capable of adapting to turbulent sea winds as well as to low-speed winds.”

He pointed out that the UAE has moved to a new stage in the field of peaceful nuclear energy with the operation of four units within the Barakah plant, and has achieved pioneering achievements in the field of artificial intelligence, starting with the first Emirati university for graduate studies specializing in the field of artificial intelligence, all the way to strategic investment companies in this field. Regarding the UAE’s achievements in the field of space, Al Jaber said: “We sent a probe to Mars, and we did not stop there, as we will soon send a mission to the asteroid belt via the (Mohammed bin Rashid Explorer) vehicle, and we will also launch the (Mohammed bin Zayed Sat) vehicle to explore our planet.” .

He stressed that the directives of His Highness the President of the State have always been the solid basis for achieving achievements, and that His Highness’s call for cooperation and solidarity inspired multilateral action, helped resolve and resolve over doubts and fears, and succeeded in uniting the world’s efforts to reach the historic and balanced “UAE Agreement” during the conference.
