Hamdan bin Mohammed meets with the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq as part of the 2026 Government Summit

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, Chairman of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Dubai, in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai, met today with His Excellency Masrour Barzani, Prime Minister of the brotherly Iraqi Kurdistan region, as part of the third day of the World Government Summit 2026, held in Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai.
During the meeting, they discussed cooperation relations between the UAE and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, and ways to develop them in a number of areas of common interest, especially economic, investment and development, in a way that serves common interests and supports sustainable development paths.
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum stressed the UAE’s keenness to strengthen its relations with the Kurdistan region of Iraq, and to build on the positive relations that bring the two sides together. His Highness pointed to the importance of expanding the horizons of cooperation, encouraging partnerships between the government and private sectors, and taking advantage of the available opportunities in a way that contributes to achieving development and prosperity for all.
For his part, Masrour Barzani expressed his appreciation for the UAE hosting the World Government Summit, praising its position as a leading global platform for dialogue and exchange of government experiences, and stressed the keenness of the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government to develop its relations with the UAE and benefit from its successful experiences in the fields of economic development, governance, and anticipating the future.
He also stressed the importance of the World Government Summit as an international platform that brings together government leaders, decision-makers and experts, and contributes to discussing global challenges and formulating innovative solutions that enhance government readiness and support sustainable development.
The meeting was attended by Suhail Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure; His Excellency Omar bin Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications, and His Excellency Sultan Al Mansouri, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dubai Chambers; His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority; His Excellency Abdullah Mohammed Al Basti, Secretary-General of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Dubai; His Excellency Hisham Abdullah Al Qassim, CEO of Wasl Asset Management Group.
