The framework partnership agreement was signed by the Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Masdar, Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, the Italian Minister of Environment and Energy Security, Gilberto Piccito Frattin, and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy of Albania, Belinda Balocco, as part of the activities of “Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week.” “.

The framework agreement identifies the main areas of cooperation between the UAE, Albania and Italy, which include implementing large-scale renewable energy projects in Albania, with a focus on solar photovoltaic energy, wind energy and hybrid solutions, and a portion of this renewable energy will be transferred to Italy.

This cooperation represents an important step towards enhancing energy security, advancing sustainable development, and accelerating the transition to clean energy in the Mediterranean region. It also promotes the creation of strategic partnerships in priority sectors and areas, including renewable energy, energy transmission, and related infrastructure.

His Excellency Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber said, on this occasion, that in line with the leadership’s vision and directives to enhance international cooperation in the field of sustainable development and energy, this framework agreement comes to confirm the importance of linking energy sources at the global level, in a way that supports ensuring energy security, and achieving the goal of doubling renewable energy capabilities. His Excellency added that by benefiting from the UAE’s global experience in the field of renewable energy, the abundant natural resources in Albania, and the developed energy market in Italy, we seek to build long-term cooperation relations for the production and exchange of renewable energy in the Mediterranean region, stressing that the UAE It continues its pioneering role in supporting the achievement of a qualitative shift in the global energy system.

For his part, His Excellency Gilberto Piccito Frattin said: “We are pleased to be part of this tripartite framework partnership that aims to enhance cooperation in the field of renewable energy at a competitive cost, which supports Italy’s role as a center for energy and renewable energy in the Mediterranean region… It also strengthens our cooperation with countries “The Balkans in the energy sector, which is of interest to Italy and the European Union.”
