Emirati woman chosen as head of a work team at ICAO

The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) reported that the Senior Director of the Oversight and Inspection Department in the Authority’s Aviation Security Affairs Sector, Wafaa Abdullah Al-Obaidli, has been selected as head of the capacity-building work team in the field of facilities of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

This selection confirms international confidence in Emirati competencies and its pivotal role in leading international initiatives and projects within the civil aviation sector.

The Director General of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, said in a statement issued by the Authority yesterday, “The selection of Wafa Abdullah Al Obaidli to head the work team reflects the true image of the national competencies that represent the UAE in international forums.”

He added: “This achievement confirms our commitment to developing our human capabilities and ensuring our effective presence in shaping the future of civil aviation. We believe in the ability of our national cadres to make distinguished contributions that enhance the country’s position as a fundamental pillar in aviation security and safety at the global level.”

This achievement is a qualitative addition to the career of Emirati women in the civil aviation sector, and evidence of the leadership position that the country occupies in the international civil aviation sector.
