After 12,000 buildings were damaged… progress has begun to be made in extinguishing the Los Angeles fires

Local authorities announced that firefighting teams have finally begun to make progress, a week after wildfires began in the Los Angeles area.
She indicated that the Eaton fire near Pasadena was contained by about 50% as of yesterday, Wednesday, which claimed the lives of 17 people out of 25 deaths confirmed by local authorities so far.

California fires

Local authorities said that the Palisades fire, which burned a large area on the western edge of Los Angeles, had barely spread in recent days.
According to initial estimates, more than 12,000 buildings were damaged or destroyed in the area.
Weather forecasts for the coming days, with lower wind speeds and lower temperatures, give reason for hope that the most difficult phase of the emergency may be over.

Fears of strong winds

Strong winds that have been blowing since Wednesday raise fears that they will fuel the fires raging around Los Angeles, which have resulted in at least 25 deaths.

Meteorologists warn of the intensification of the monsoon known as “Santa Ana,” which is particularly dangerous.
The National Weather Service issued a call to residents and said: “Remain alert, be prepared to evacuate, and avoid anything that could cause a fire.”
It also warned of winds that could reach speeds of 110 kilometers per hour on Wednesday between 3:00 (11:00 GMT) and 15:00 (23:00 GMT).
