"Abu Dhabi Ports" Strengthens its cooperation with its partners in Kazakhstan

ABU DHABI, 16 JANUARY / WAM / Nuatum Marine, the maritime and shipping sector arm of the Abu Dhabi Ports Group, announced the strengthening of the scope of its cooperation with its Kazakh partners, by signing an initial agreement with the Kazakh National Maritime and Logistics Services Company “KMTF” “Kazmortransflot”, a subsidiary of the National Oil Company. Kazakh “KazMunaygaz” to expand its offshore operations in the Caspian Sea region.

The two parties seek to enhance cooperation to build two modern ships for transporting and shipping containers in the Caspian Sea, with the capacity of each exceeding 500 twenty-foot standard containers.

These modern ships, with a shallow draft and relatively larger (compared to the capacity of current ships operating in the Caspian Sea), will provide greater efficiency in carrying out operations and greater carrying capacity, while advanced cargo handling systems will support improved scheduling and operational efficiency. The two companies also expressed their intention to develop the next generation of inter-Caspian multimodal transport system, through high-capacity ferries and advanced terminal infrastructure, which will significantly reduce transit time for Kazakh exporters and all partners operating along the Middle Corridor. The two parties also agreed to Expanding the fleet of crude oil tankers to support the energy sector in Kazakhstan and enhancing cooperation in areas of common interest.

Captain Ammar Mubarak Al Shaiba, CEO of the Maritime and Shipping Sector, Abu Dhabi Ports Group, said: “We are committed to achieving the group’s strategy aimed at facilitating global trade and logistics services by strengthening our cooperation with our strategic partners in Kazakhstan,” pointing to the many notable successes and achievements in the Caspian Sea region, which It underscores the strength of our partnership.

He stressed that the new agreement will enhance cooperation between the two sides and will pave the way towards new opportunities and greater growth.

For his part, Heydar Urzanov, General Manager of CasmorTransflot, said: “We share with Abu Dhabi Ports Group our vision and aspiration to support trade and logistics services in the Caspian Sea region, and we will work to create new opportunities that will benefit our institutions and our economy as well.”

He added that this agreement is based on the well-established relations between the two parties, and their joint project “Integrated Maritime Solutions” (CIMS), which was established between them in 2022 and which played an important role in providing integrated maritime solutions and advanced shipping services in the Caspian Sea region.
