The United Nations launches a humanitarian response plan for Yemen to help more than 10 million people in 2025

Farhan Haq, deputy spokesman for the United Nations, said in the daily press conference on Thursday that this year’s plan seeks to raise $2.5 billion to provide life-saving assistance to 10.5 million of the most vulnerable people, including food, clean water and health care.

Julian Harness, Resident Coordinator and UN Humanitarian Coordinator in Yemen, said that humanitarian work has been effective in mitigating the worst effects of the country’s crisis.

But he stressed that the United Nations cannot do this alone, and more is needed to reduce needs, achieve peace, revive the economy, and build the resilience of communities.

The UN deputy spokesman reported that in 2024, donors provided $1.4 billion to the humanitarian appeal in Yemen, enabling about 200 relief agencies – two-thirds of which were Yemeni local organizations – to reach more than 8 million people.
