المملكة: Services of the Two Holy Mosques: More than 11 electrical power sources in the Grand Mosque

The General Authority for the Care of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque held a scientific session on the sidelines of the 2025 Hajj Exhibition and Conference, which concluded today in Jeddah, under the title “Sustainability and Quality of Services in the Two Holy Mosques.”
The Authority’s CEO, Ghazi bin Dhafer Al-Shahrani, confirmed during the session that the Grand Mosque is unique from others because it is the largest facility in the world, the most operated around the clock and the year, and the most visited in the world. Therefore, the issue of sustainability is inevitable and crucial.

Electrical feeding

Engineer Al-Shahrani stated that there are more than 11 main and backup electrical power sources in the mosque, indicating that there has been no need to use any of the external backup stations over the past 40 years, unlike huge global projects in which the power feeders do not exceed more than two or three sources.
He drew attention to the fact that the Authority is currently working with partners to adopt the application of smart asset and facility management and high-tech sensors to raise the level of service provision and excellence, adding that the Authority has adopted the concept of “comprehensive access” to provide accessible services for people with disabilities and an integrated transportation system to facilitate and facilitate them.
