The Kremlin: We do not expect a major change in the American approach towards sanctions on Russia under the Trump administration

Russian presidential spokesman (Kremlin) Dmitry Peskov expected that there would be no major changes in the American approach towards the sanctions imposed on Russia under the administration of US President-elect Donald Trump.

This came in response to the statements of Trump’s nominee for US Treasury Secretary, Scott Besent, who called for imposing stricter sanctions on Russia and its oil industry, according to what was reported by the TASS news agency. Russian, today, Friday.

Peskov said, “Despite the expression of some political readiness for dialogue, it is unlikely that the American administration will change its position on this issue. There is no basis for high expectations. Major changes should not be expected.” ;.

The Kremlin spokesman indicated that “it would be strange if Besant – in his capacity as a minister – did not support his boss’s decision.” It is noteworthy that Trump’s nominee for the position of Treasury Secretary had previously called for “tightening sanctions against Russia on the oil industry to the point that forces Russia to sit at the negotiating table for peace talks on Ukraine.”
