At least 70 people were killed as a result of a fuel truck explosion in Nigeria

At least 70 people have been killed in Nigeria after a fuel tanker truck exploded, the country’s emergency response agency said.
The explosion occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning near the Suleja area in Niger State after individuals attempted to transfer fuel from the truck to another truck using an electric generator.

The transportation of fuel led to the explosion, killing the people who were transporting the fuel and bystanders, Hussein Issa, of the National Emergency Management Agency, told the Associated Press.

Issa stated that search and rescue operations were underway. Due to the absence of an efficient railway system for transporting goods, fatal truck accidents are common on most major roads in Nigeria, Africa’s most populous country.
In September, an explosion killed at least 48 people in Niger State after a fuel truck collided with another truck transporting livestock.
