For the sake of the World Cup, an English fan sells his house

Die-hard England fan Andy Milne has revealed he will sell his house to fund his trip to the 2026 World Cup.
The 62-year-old former teacher became one of the most famous fans of the Three Lions team after he enjoyed wide fame in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Milne has already booked his flights to attend this year’s World Cup, and will attend all of England’s matches.
But his plan to stay in the tournament for 7 weeks will cost him dearly after the extremely high prices for the World Cup were revealed.
This year’s World Cup is the most expensive in history after fans complained about the exorbitant prices for flights, tickets and hotels.
England fans will have to pay more than £5,000 to watch every match if the team reaches the final.
According to British newspaper The Sun, England fans will have to pay a minimum of £526 just to watch all three of their group stage matches against Croatia, Ghana and Panama.
Milne is taking drastic measures to ensure he can follow the England national team throughout the tournament, as he decided to put his second home in Northwich, Cheshire, up for sale for 350,000 pounds to help pay for his trip.
Milne usually rents out the property, but said he “felt it was time to sell it” after owning it for 27 years.
Milne said in statements to the British newspaper The Mirror: “The property will be put on the market because I am selling it so I can go to the World Cup.”
He added: “The last tournament in Qatar was a gift to myself. I had been saving money for years. We have had a second home for 27 years, so I felt it was time to take advantage of it.”
He explained: “I definitely want to watch the entire tournament. I will travel to the United States on June 3, and I will stay there for seven weeks, so the trip will cost me a large amount of money.”
He added: “I always try to do things at the lowest possible cost. I will stay with friends whenever possible. I am lucky to have friends in Mexico, Dallas and Vancouver.”
He concluded: “Travel costs are high. I bought international flight tickets early because you can change them, even if the departure times change by ten minutes.”
A photo of Milne spread widely after he was circulated carrying a replica of the World Cup, which he walks around during his travels.
