Open to dialogue with Trump and achieving lasting peace with Ukraine

Russian President Vladimir Putin said that he is open to dialogue with US President Donald Trump regarding Ukraine, to achieve lasting peace 3 years after the start of the war.
Trump, who began his presidential term, pledged to engage in dialogue with both sides of the conflict and end the war that broke out on February 24, 2022.

Perpetual peace

“We are also open to dialogue with the new US administration” over the conflict in Ukraine, Putin said during a meeting with his ministers broadcast on Russian television.
He added: “As for resolving the situation, I would like to stress that the goal should not be a short truce, but rather a lasting peace based on respect for the legitimate interests of all.”

The Russian President stressed, “We will, of course, fight for the interests of Russia and the interests of the Russian people.”

Avoid World War III

Donald Trump expressed his intention to engage in dialogue with both Ukraine and Russia to avoid “World War III.”
Putin welcomed Trump’s desire to avoid a third world war, saying: “We, of course, welcome this position, and congratulate the president-elect of the United States on assuming his duties.”
