"Greece" The only Arab film participating in the official Berlin Film Festival competition

The Berlin International Film Festival revealed the selection of the film “Jonah” Directed by Amir Fakhr El-Din, it will be the only Arab film competing in the official competition in its 75th session scheduled for the period from 13 to 23 next February.

The film is a joint production between Germany and Canada in partnership with France, Italy and Palestine, with a crew and major stars. From all over the world.

 

The company distributing the film stated – in a statement today, Tuesday – that the work was written, directed and edited by the award-winning Amir Fakhr El-Din, and includes a team Cast: The famous Lebanese actor, director and producer George Khabbaz, with the great German actress Hanna Schigula, in addition to the Palestinian actor Ali Suleiman, known for his starring roles in the films 200 Meters (2020) and Paradise Now (2005), who was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.

 

The film’s events take place on a remote island, where Mounir (George Khabbaz) searches for isolation to contemplate his final step, and finds… Solace is in the quiet presence of Valeska (Hanna Schygulla), whose pity ignites his fading will to live.

 

Amir Fakhr al-Din is a Syrian writer and film director residing in Hamburg, Germany, and "Greece" It is the second film in Fakhr al-Din’s planned trilogy titled Homeland.
