Following heavy snowfall, 8 people died as a result of avalanches in Austria

Three Czech skiers were killed in Avalanche in the middle of Austria, according to what the police announced, bringing to eight the number of victims of these disasters in The Alps Saturday.
The Alps have witnessed a number of avalanches that have claimed the lives of many people since last week following heavy snowfall.
The police reported in a statement that an avalanche swept away and buried three of seven Czech skiers in the Murtal region of the province of Styria.
They added. "Rescue teams were able to locate the victims"she continued "Despite immediate rescue efforts, the victims were found dead"

Earlier on Saturday, an avalanche hit a group of seven skiers who were outside the designated trails in the Pongau area near Salzburg, killing four of them and seriously wounding another, media reported, citing rescue teams.
Also on Saturday, an avalanche swept a skier off the designated trails in the same area.
The head of the mountain rescue department in the region said Bongaugerhard Kremser "Despite clear and repeated warnings, several avalanches occurred today, unfortunately resulting in deaths".
He added "This tragedy clearly shows the seriousness of the current avalanche situation".
