The historic Jeddah winter season enhances cultural tourism and offers integrated family experiences

The Ministry of Culture continues its efforts to revive the historic Jeddah region and enhance its presence as a global tourist and cultural destination, by launching the Historic Jeddah Winter 2026, which targets visitors from inside and outside the Kingdom, by providing a comprehensive tourism experience that combines entertainment and knowledge, and is suitable for different age groups.
The season benefits from the moderate climate that characterizes the city of Jeddahduring the winter, which makes the historical area a suitable environment for family outings and open tours.
It is considered Historic Jeddah, listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, is one of the oldest urban areas on the Red Sea coast. Over the centuries, it has served as a main gateway to Mecca, a trade center, and a meeting point for cultures.
Integrated entertainment experiences
The season offers a range of experiences designed to meet the interests of all family members, including dedicated photography trails that highlight the beauty of heritage architecture, and introductory architectural tours that highlight traditional building methods and the characteristics of historical homes.
The area also includes spaces for craftsmen and artists that allow visitors, young and old, to directly interact with handicrafts and learn about their techniques in a simplified educational manner, in addition to providing gardens and safe spaces designated for children’s games.
Historic Jeddah includes a number of prominent landmarks that constitute major stations on visiting itineraries, including the historic Punt Gate, which was known as the pilgrims’ gate, and currently houses the Red Sea Museum, and Nassif House, which is linked to the history of the Saudi state and pivotal national events, in addition to the Tariq Museum. Abdul Hakim, concerned with the national musical heritage, Zawya 97, and the Craftsmen’s Alley, which combines arts, crafts, and history in one scene.
The tours also include the famous heritage markets, such as Souq Al-Alawi, Souq Al-Nada, and Qabil Street, which are historical sites that contributed to shaping the commercial and social movement of the city, and allow visitors to learn about ancient trade patterns and the role of markets in the life of the Jeddawi community through various eras.
The spiritual and cultural dimension represents an important part of the season experience, by visiting a number Among the historical mosques, the most prominent of which is the Al-Shafi’i Mosque, whose minaret is considered one of the oldest buildings in Jeddah, and the Al-Mimar Mosque, one of the historical Hajj stations that was recently reopened, in addition to the Othman bin Affan Mosque, which archaeological studies indicate that its history goes back to the beginning of Islam.

These sites contribute to introducing younger generations to the city’s religious and architectural history, and enhancing visitors’ connection to the cultural heritage of the place.

The visitor will find stations dedicated to tasting local cuisine, through restaurants and markets that are linked to the daily memory of the people of Jeddah, such as the sites surrounding Bab Makkah and the Al-Nada and Al-Alawi markets, in addition to places famous for serving popular dishes and drinks such as sobia, fish, beans, and mutabbaq.
