The UAE chairs the 22nd meeting of the Arab Committee for Electronic Media in Cairo

The United Arab Emirates chaired the work of the 22nd meeting of the Arab Committee for Electronic Media, which was launched today, Sunday, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, represented by Somaya Al Ali, Director of the Department of Companies and International Cooperation at the National Media Authority, in the presence of Minister Plenipotentiary Dr. Haider Al-Jubouri, Director of the Technical Secretariat of the Council of Arab Information Ministers, and with the participation of representatives of media institutions and bodies in Arab countries to discuss a number of files related to organizing and developing Arab digital media and enhancing its security.

At the top of the meeting’s agenda is the follow-up to the implementation of Resolution No. 566 of the Council of Arab Information Ministers issued by its 55th regular session, in addition to discussing the recommendations of the panel discussion concerned with cybersecurity and fortifying Arab websites and platforms and protecting them from hacking and electronic attacks, in addition to discussing the membership of the committee concerned with cybersecurity for protecting Arab platforms and websites.

The meeting will also discuss the recommendations of the working group concerned with monitoring and studying electronic games that include scenes of violence or promote terrorism, and their potential effects on Arab societal security, in addition to reviewing a project to prepare a book on the reality of electronic media in the Arab world and ways to employ it optimally at the media and institutional levels.

The agenda also includes examining the preparation of a draft Arab indicative law to regulate digital media, to keep pace with the rapid transformations in the digital media environment, and to promote the responsible and safe use of modern technologies.

The meeting reviews the efforts of the United Arab Emirates to develop and launch the website of the Arab Committee for Electronic Media, and organize a training course for administrators of member states’ pages, with the aim of supporting feeding the website with data and content specific to each country.

The committee also discusses the UAE’s initiative to host representatives of media ministries in Arab countries during the year 2026, in coordination with the General Secretariat, as part of an advanced training program entitled “Media Engineering in the Age of Artificial Intelligence,” which aims to develop media competencies capable of employing artificial intelligence tools, absorbing future transformations, and enhancing the ability of the Arab media to produce more accurate, innovative and influential content.

Minister Plenipotentiary Dr. Haider Al-Jubouri confirmed during his speech at the meeting that electronic media has become one of the most prominent tools for influencing Arab public opinion, due to its speed in transmitting information and its ability to enhance interaction, transparency and community participation, stressing the importance of developing Arab regulatory frameworks that keep pace with the accelerating digital transformation.

Al-Jubouri explained that the meeting comes within the framework of preparations for holding the 104th regular session of the Permanent Committee for Arab Media, and the 22nd regular session of the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Information Ministers, scheduled to be held next February in the State of Kuwait.

In this context, he praised the efforts made by the United Arab Emirates in developing and launching the website of the Arab Committee for Electronic Media, expressing his thanks to the Arab countries that interacted with this file, and expressing his aspiration that the committee’s work will produce practical recommendations that contribute to the organization and development of Arab digital media.
