The Sharjah Award in Public Finance concludes its induction and training program in Cairo

Cairo, January 22 / WAM / The Sharjah Award in Public Finance, in cooperation with the Arab Organization for Administrative Development of the League of Arab States, concluded today in Cairo the work of the induction and training program for the third session of the award, which was held under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Saleh Al-Sheikh, Chairman of the Central Agency for Organization and Administration in Egypt, Deputy Chairman of the Executive Council.

The program was attended by His Excellency Walid Al Sayegh, Director General of the Sharjah Central Finance Department, His Excellency Dr. Nasser Al Hatlan Al Qahtani, Director General of the Arab Administrative Development Organization and Vice Chairman of the Award’s Board of Trustees, Engineer Hatem Nabil, the Agency’s agent on behalf of Dr. Saleh Al Sheikh, and Ambassador Ashraf Rashid, Advisor to the President of the Authority for International Relations. Nasser Kashwani, head of the award’s logistical support team, and a group of officials and representatives of parties concerned with public money management, quality management and excellence, and a group of experts and specialists in the field of public finance and employees. Millions in a number of ministries and government departments in the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt.

Sheikh Rashid bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Director of the Central Finance Department and Secretary-General of the Award, said that the Award records positive growth in its awareness and promotional efforts in the Arab world, which is reflected in the expansion of the circle of those wishing to participate and nominate for its various categories at the institutional and individual levels, stressing the importance of concerted efforts and competencies to work together on Promoting the concepts of sound financial management and achieving outstanding government financial performance in order to reach sustainable and integrated development that meets the aspirations of governments and serves communities.

He stressed the keenness of the Sharjah Government to adopt and sponsor initiatives that support excellence, innovation and creativity in financial work and to keep pace with optimal financial and administrative practices that establish efficiency, increase effectiveness and push towards high-speed productivity, rising quality and solid governance in the Arab region.

Hatem Nabil appreciated the interest of the Emirate of Sharjah in enhancing the efficiency of public finance and disseminating best practices in this field through the launch of this distinguished award, which enhances its forward-looking vision and its pioneering role in keeping pace with international best practices and developing various sectors, including the public finance sector.

He stressed that the Sharjah Award in Public Finance aims to encourage optimal investment of financial resources and promote the principles of transparency, accountability and governance. It is not just a competition but rather a platform for cooperation and exchange of experiences at the level of the Arab world that reflects the emirate’s keenness to consolidate the values ​​of excellence and disseminate best practices in public finance management and a deep awareness of the importance of financial management. As one of the pillars of a successful government system and one of the basic drivers for achieving sustainable development, transparency and effectiveness in institutions.

He pointed out the keenness of the Central Agency for Organization and Administration to enhance administrative efficiency and achieve a balance between building institutions and enhancing human capabilities through well-thought-out plans and training programs to build the capabilities of government sector employees and raise the level of overall performance, which reflects positively on the quality of services provided to citizens, explaining that cooperation between various agencies is both At the local or regional level, this is the most successful way to achieve common goals.

His Excellency Dr. Nasser Al-Hattlan Al-Qahtani stressed the importance of partnership and cooperation between relevant government agencies with the aim of enhancing institutional financial sustainability through the success and activation of this award and adopting its visions and goals, while praising the efforts of government institutions in the Arab world and their keenness and cooperation to make the award’s goals a success by hosting and embracing the activities of the introductory and promotional programme. He reviewed the activities of the Arab Organization for Administrative Development as a specialized Arab organization with its main headquarters in Cairo and its regional headquarters in Sharjah, where it carries out training program activities, consulting studies, and holding Conferences, events, intellectual production, and award presentation. These awards must have an Arab dimension and sponsorship from Arab governments. The most prominent of these awards is the Sharjah Public Finance Award.

The first session of the introductory symposium dealt with the objectives of the award, its institutional and individual categories, and the criteria for evaluating these categories, while the second session focused on introducing the conditions for participation in the award and the registration and nomination mechanism using the electronic system.

The symposium was accompanied by the holding of 4 training workshops, during which participants learned about the concepts and mechanisms of planning the state’s general budget, in addition to organizing 3 other training workshops that focused on the mechanisms of implementing the general budget, managing revenues and expenditures, and managing risks in implementing the budget, while the second workshop touched on monitoring and evaluating the general budget and future challenges. And evaluate the financial performance of the budget, the challenges of monitoring the general budget, and international best practices.
