10 thousand European hotels demand “Boking” compensation for 20 years due to “the best prices”

More than 10,000 hotels in Europe joined the collective lawsuit against the hotel reservation site and tourism services, which are based in the Dutch capital, Amsterdam, “Boking.com” for compensation due to the losses it incurred as a result of the use of the site for the so -called “best prices” items in 20 years.
The items of the “best prices” prohibit hotels for free user when the customer searches for the suitable hotel for him on “Buking” and then goes to reserve the room in it from the hotel’s website directly to take advantage of the lowest price.
Hotels are based in their lawsuit on a ruling issued by the European Court of Justice on September 19, 2024 and the item is considered the best illegal, as the collective lawsuit aims to obtain the hotels to compensate for the damages they incurred between 2004 and 2024.
The head of the Hospitality Sector Association in Europe Alexandros Vasilikos said: “European hotel owners have always suffered unfair conditions and exorbitant costs, now it is the time to join hands and demand fairness,” adding, “This joint initiative sends a clear message: the hospitality sector in Europe will not tolerate the abusive practices in the digital market.”
The court found that platforms such as “Boking” could work without this type. This did not make a difference of travelers, and the platform in the Netherlands was canceled, these items in Europe under the European Union’s digital market law for 2024.
