Following a collision… 12 people were killed when they jumped from a train in India
At least 12 train passengers died today, Wednesday, after being hit by another train on the parallel track in western India, after they jumped from their train cars in panic to escape from a rumored fire, according to the Press Trust of India news agency.
The accident occurred in the state of Maharashtra, near the railway station in Bardhad, southwest of Mumbai, the financial capital of India.

The agency explained that the victims jumped from the “Pushback Express” train, which stopped after some passengers pulled the emergency chain.
A senior Railway Authority official said, “Our initial information is that there were sparks inside one of the Pushpat Express coaches due to a hot wheel hub or stuck brakes, which caused panic among some passengers.”
