Nigeria: 12 deaths and 89 confirmed cases of Lassa fever within a week
The National Health Agency in Nigeria announced on Thursday that Lassa fever continues to spread in the country, with 89 more confirmed cases and 12 deaths recorded in the second week of January.
The Nigerian Center for Disease Control and Prevention said in a statement that the new cases were confirmed in 13 of the 36 states in the country.
He pointed out that the total number of cases in 2025 so far has reached 143 cases, with 22 deaths.

It is noteworthy that Lassa fever, which is widespread in Nigeria, caused the death of 102 people last year during the months of May and November.
