The start of the final qualifiers for the Ras Al Khaimah Quran Award

Ras Al Khaimah, January 23, 2017 – Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, the final qualifiers for the Ras Al Khaimah Holy Quran Award in its twenty-third session were launched today.

The qualifiers, which are held at the Sheikh Zayed Mosque in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, in cooperation with the General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Endowments, will last for two weeks, and begin with tests for females over a period of six days, in the morning and evening periods, followed by tests for males.

415 male and female contestants of different nationalities and ages participate in the qualifiers, all competing in the various branches of the award.

His Excellency Ahmed Mohammed Al Shehhi, Director General of the Ras Al Khaimah Foundation for the Holy Qur’an and its Sciences, said that the award is witnessing, in its current session, strong and distinguished participation from males and females in all branches, adding that the final qualifiers provide an ideal competitive environment that gives the male and female contestants opportunities to highlight their skills and creativity in the field. Memorizing and reciting the Holy Qur’an, Hadith competitions, and other competitions that enhance their abilities.

For his part, His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Ibrahim Subaan Al-Taniji, Secretary General of the Ras Al Khaimah Holy Quran Award and Chairman of the Supreme Organizing Committee, explained that the final qualifying tests include a group of diverse competitions in the Holy Quran, including memorizing the entire Quran, the women’s competition, and the Holy Quran competition for imams. And the muezzins and the Psalms of the House of David competition, in addition to the Holy Hadith and New Muslims competitions.

He invited the audience to attend the qualifiers and enjoy the most beautiful Quranic recitations, pointing out that there are raffles and in-kind prizes for attendees.
