The UAE is one of the most active countries in humanitarian work

Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairwoman of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, met with the Director of the United Nations Development Programme, Achim Steiner, as part of the activities of the 55th session of the World Economic Forum in Davos, in a step that reflects the UAE’s commitment to its pioneering role in the field of humanitarian work. Charitable projects and promoting international partnerships to achieve sustainable development at the regional and global levels.
During the meeting, Her Highness indicated the UAE’s keenness to support development and humanitarian initiatives that are consistent with the sustainable development goals of the United Nations.
Her Highness said: “The UAE is one of the most active countries in the field of humanitarian and charitable work. We believe that international cooperation is the way to achieve sustainable development goals and enhance stability and prosperity in societies around the world.”
The meeting focused on ways of cooperation to enhance development projects in various sectors, including supporting education, empowering women, and enhancing food security, in addition to confronting the challenges of climate change. Her Highness Sheikha Latifa also stressed the importance of activating partnerships with the United Nations Development Program to support development and humanitarian efforts aimed at improving the quality of life for individuals and communities most in need.
For his part, Steiner praised the UAE’s role in supporting global humanitarian and development issues, stressing the importance of cooperation with leading countries such as the UAE to implement projects that achieve a long-term positive impact.
He said that the United Nations Development Program appreciates the UAE’s efforts in supporting communities and enhancing their ability to face challenges.
During the meeting, the importance of joint cooperation between the UAE and the United Nations Development Program to enhance humanitarian and charitable work globally was emphasized. The two parties also stressed the need to unify international efforts to confront humanitarian and development challenges and support sustainable solutions that contribute to building a more stable and just future.
