Booking website warns of a hack that led to the exposure of customer data

Booking company warned. It warned its customers that some of their personal data might have been hacked, after unauthorized third parties were monitored to access information related to previous reservations, in an incident described as a worrying security development within one of the largest travel platforms in the world.
The company explained, in an official message to users, that the data that may have been affected by the hacking process includes reservation details, customer names, email addresses, and phone numbers, in addition to accommodation addresses and any information shared with accommodations during the reservation process.
Booking.com confirmed that investigations are still underway to accurately determine the scope of the incident, stressing at the same time that the financial systems were not affected, and that payment and credit card data were not accessed, with immediate measures being taken to contain the hack, including updating security codes and informing affected users.
The incident sparked a state of anxiety among users, amid calls to monitor bank accounts in anticipation of any possible exploitation, at a time when the company did not reveal the number of those affected, while this coincides with an increase in cyber attacks targeting travel and airline companies globally.
