A 4.4 Richter earthquake strikes Papua New Guinea

Today, an earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale struck northeastern Papua New Guinea.
The US Geological Survey reported that the epicenter of the earthquake was 131 kilometers from the Finschhafen area, and at a depth of 207.2 kilometers.

There have been no reports so far of human casualties or material damage as a result of the earthquake.
