In a statement, the Commission expressed its deep concern and strong condemnation of the reports indicating the appointment of a diplomatic representative for the Israeli entity in the so-called "Somaliland"stressing the African Union’s commitment to respecting the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of Somalia in accordance with its founding charter and international law.
The statement stressed that the African Union does not recognize the territory "Somaliland" (Somaliland) as an independent state, reiterating its commitment to supporting peace, stability and national cohesion efforts in Somalia.
