The UAE establishes its position as a driving force to shift towards clean energy

Abu Dhabi, January 26 / WAM / The UAE has established its global position as a driving force to shift towards clean energy, through its advanced projects that contribute to enhancing energy security, and inspires the world in innovation and sustainability on its journey to a more prosperous future.
The UAE celebrates the World Clean Energy Day, which falls on January 26 of each year, and has taken accelerating steps in developing renewable and clean energy projects, to become a role model at the global level in the shift towards sustainable and fair energy for all.
His Excellency Dr. Nawal Al -Hosani, the permanent representative of the state to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), confirmed on this occasion, in a statement to the Emirates News Agency “WAM”, the success of the UAE’s pioneering efforts in achieving an international consensus on the date of January 26 to be the World Clean Energy Day, which coincides with With the anniversary of the founding of “Irina”, with the aim of highlighting the importance of future energy, as it protects the planet environment and its resources, stimulates sustainable development, provides job opportunities and enhances business sectors.
She said that the UAE continues to enhance the global trend towards investing in more clean energy projects through its strategic partnerships, supportive platforms, and its financing solutions for sustainable initiatives, especially in developing and fragile societies.
She drew attention to the importance of the role of clean energy in expanding the horizons of the green, circular and flexible economy, and its contribution to achieving climatic pledges such as what was approved by the Emirates Historical Agreement in “COP28”, and a pledge to double the production of renewable energy three times and raise energy efficiency twice by 2030.
The UAE continues the march of achievements at the level of strategic projects in the field of clean energy, as the first weeks of this year witnessed the announcement of the launch of the largest and first project of its kind in the world that combines solar energy and energy storage batteries, which will provide renewable energy 24 hours a day and contribute to saving About “1 GB per day” of the basic load of renewable energy, and it includes a 5 GB solar solar power plant for 5 GW “and 19 GB of power storage systems.
The UAE is preparing to enhance its clean energy portfolio after the awaited completion of the Ajban Solar PV station in the third quarter of next year 2026, as the station will contribute to the production of 1.5 GB of electricity, reinforcing the targets of carbon neutrality with a reduction of more than 2.4 million tons annually of emissions Carbonism, and to become one of the largest independent solar solar power plants in the world.
The UAE currently has three of the largest solar power plants in the world, and aims to achieve a production capacity of clean energy at a rate of 14.2 GB by 2030, which confirms its commitment to achieving global aspirations and compliance with the Paris Agreement, as the first country in the region is to sign this agreement.
From the Mohammed bin Rashid Solar Energy Complex, which illuminates a sustainable solar energy, to Baraka nuclear energy stations, which draw the features of a new era of clean electricity, to the green hydrogen initiatives that look forward to future fuel, the UAE continues to enhance its largest and most efficient project portfolio in the world to paint Features of a sustainable future that combines innovation and protecting the environment and societies.
The Baraka stations, which have produced nearly 88 thousand gigawatts of environmentally friendly electricity, play a decisive role in putting the Emirates at the front of the climate work leadership; The four stations have contributed since their operation until now to reducing carbon emissions of more than 43,000 kilos of emissions.
The UAE added more of the per capita share of clean electricity in the past six years more than any other country, as 75% of this clean electricity comes from Baraka stations, and 40 TB/hour of clean electricity is produced annually in Baraka, equivalent to 25% of The UAE needs of electricity, and 85% of clean electricity in Abu Dhabi.
It is noteworthy that this productivity is equivalent to the annual energy of 45 huge data centers with a capacity of 100 megawatts and 16 million electric cars.
With the full operation of all stations, the Emirates Nuclear Energy Company works to explore opportunities in advanced nuclear energy technologies such as mini reactors, advanced reactors and clean energy sources such as hydrogen, establishing a regional center and a nuclear energy supply chain, as well as investing in external nuclear projects, and enhancing partnerships.
