Colombia offers the “decent” deportation costs to its citizens from America

Colombia offered to pay the “decent” deportation costs to its citizens from the United States, the Foreign Ministry announced Friday, a week after a public dispute between Presidents Gustavo Petro and Donald Trump regarding the return of migrants.
On Sunday, a commercial war would almost occur between Colombia and the United States, when Trump threatened to impose huge customs sanctions and duties after Petro ordered the return of two American military planes carrying migrants who were deported.

Accusations and penalties

Petro accused the United States of treating migrants as criminals and confusing them with shackles and handcuffs, and the Colombian Foreign Ministry said on Friday that it had proposed to Mauricio Claver Caroni, Trump’s private envoy to Latin America, to take over Bogota “immediately transfer all citizens who the United States deports” and covers the transportation costs of its citizens, According to a statement.
The Trump administration announced this week a series of sanctions against Colombia, before it retracted it, with the White House saying that Bogota accepted its terms.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, Colombian military and civilian aircraft brought the first groups of immigrants to Bogota.
Colombia expects the return of about 27,000 immigrants, the Trump administration or its democratic predecessor, Joe Biden, signed their deportation orders during the past six months, according to a Colombian presidential source.
