Abu Dhabi, February 3 / WAM / His Excellency Dr. Sheikha Salem Al Dhaheri, Secretary -General of the Environment Authority – Abu Dhabi, confirmed that environmental sustainability is a behavior based on values and standards established in the culture of the individual and society, and that preserving the environment and protecting natural resources has become an integral part of the heritage of the Emirates And its authentic traditions, which were instilled by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul.
She said in a statement to the Emirates News Agency “WAM”, on the occasion of the 28th National Environment Day, which the state celebrates tomorrow under the slogan “Our roots are the basis of our future”, that environmental work continues with unlimited support from the wise leadership, led by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, The head of the state, may God protect him, to be the sustainability of our environment is a national duty that we inherit from generation after generation, and Abu Dhabi remains a global beacon in the field of environmental protection.
She emphasized the commitment of the Environment Authority – Abu Dhabi to continue the march of achievements aimed at preserving nature, which includes multiple projects and initiatives aimed at reducing negative environmental impacts and protecting precious natural resources in the emirate starting from fresh groundwater resources to setting standards to ensure fresh air quality and protect wild biological diversity And the sea and constantly work to provide a clean and healthy environment that contributes to improving the quality of life and enhances the sustainability of the environment.
She explained that the Environment Authority – Abu Dhabi operates according to the vision and aspirations of the rational leadership, and seeks to achieve the strategic goals of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in the face of global environmental challenges by 2071, and the environmental centers of the emirate, through fruitful cooperation with partners and continuous innovation and the use of the latest advanced technologies, stressing that concert Efforts and joint work constitute the cornerstone of leading change and achieving the desired goals towards a healthier, sustainable and better future for future generations.
The United Arab Emirates celebrates the National Environment Day on February 4 of each year, based on the commitment to environmental responsibility and in line with the global efforts to preserve it; Where this day represents a collective invitation, to participate in protecting the planet by raising environmental awareness, enhancing societal responsibility and supporting sustainable innovations.
The UAE continues its leadership in this field committed to creating a positive impact at the local and global levels, to achieve a healthy and sustainable environment, and the state also exports regional initiatives in the field of the environment; It launched several prominent projects, including “renewable energy projects, the project to preserve biological diversity and the circular economy project.”
The National Environment Day in the Emirates witnesses a number of activities and activities that combine environmental and educational practices, the most prominent of which are the organization of workshops, awareness lectures, scientific exhibitions and competitions for children and youth, aimed at spreading environmental awareness and introducing them to the basics of preserving the environment.
