"Dubai Wolves" and"Benjash" At the opening of the Dubai Gold Cup for Polo 2025

Dubai, February 3 / WAM / The draw for the Dubai Gold Cup for Polo 2025 resulted in an opening confrontation between the Dubai Wolves and “Benjash” teams at the beginning of the championship competitions, which will be held from 5 to 22 February, on the Al Habtoor and Equestrian club and resort. .
6 teams are participating in the championship, namely the UAE, led by Her Highness Sheikha Metha bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, “Gentot” led by Saif Al Shamsi, “Al Habtoor” led by Mohammed Al Habtoor, “Benjash” led by Haider Benjash, and “Dubai Wolves” led by Habtoor Al Habtoor, and “Jahangiri” led by Mohamed Jahangiri, Handicab 20 Jules, where the tournament includes 16 games with an open system.
The press conference, held by the organizing committee today, attended the Al Habtoor and Equestrian Resort and Resort, Saeed Bin Derei, Vice President of the Emirates Polo Federation, Joseph Tayyar, General Manager of the Emirates, and Santiago Torigitar, coach of the Federation and the director of the championship.
Saeed bin Duri confirmed in a statement to the Emirates News Agency “WAM”, that the Emirates Polo Federation seeks to develop the game by providing an opportunity for all clubs to organize the championships, in full coordination with the federation, and providing all conditions for the participation of players in a large number of these tournaments.
He explained that the 16th edition of the Dubai Gold Cup will be one of the strongest championships, noting that the level of competition has risen with the ranking of the classification to 20 Jules, which reflects the great development witnessed by the polo sport in the Emirates.
He said, “We are witnessing a year after a year of great development in the level of players, horses and infrastructure, which makes the UAE a global destination for the major championships, and this version will be difficult, but it confirms the championship status as a prominent sporting event that polo fans around the world follow.”

He added that the federation is working to coordinate between clubs and players, to ensure an ideal organization of championships and avoid matches conflict, and we are keen to implement international laws to protect players and horses and enhance the sustainability of this ancient sport.
He pointed out that efforts are continuing to prepare to host the UAE World Cup 2026, expressing his pride in the UAE’s choice to organize this global event, which reflects the confidence of the International Federation in the advanced sport infrastructure in the country.
He announced future plans to expand sports facilities, including the creation of new stadiums to enhance the UAE’s position as a global polo center, explaining that there are 3 new stadiums that are currently being built that will join the utility network and the distinguished polo stadiums of the country.

He added that the infrastructure of the UAE sports sport is comparable to its counterparts in Europe and Latin America, and we are continuing to develop it to ensure a bright future for this sport.
