Dubai, February 4/ WAM/ The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment announced the launch of the twenty -eighth “National Environment Day” under the slogan “Our roots are the basis of our future” with the aim of highlighting the highest values and principles of preserving the environment and preserving nature for ancient Emirati society, and taking it as a firm basis to build and raise Society’s awareness of it and its adoption in order to create a sustainable future for future generations.
The launch of the National Environment Day – which comes on February 4 of each year – comes under the slogan “Our roots are the basis of our future” to keep pace with the announcement of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State “may God protect him”, 2025 “The Year of Society”.

His Excellency Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al -Dahhak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, said: This year, the National Environment Day sheds light on the culture of the UAE community inherent in the field of environmental protection and the preservation and development of natural resources, as the environment in the UAE is a natural wealth full of diversity in agricultural production Livestock and fish, as well as its wealth with living organisms and their huge biological diversity, which in turn constitutes the conscience of Emirati culture and carries many heritage symbols that characterize the UAE community. Her Excellency added: What the ancestors used to do in the past of environmentally friendly and nature practices formed a great awareness and a living heritage that we are proud of and inherited from generation after generation, which made him a force that pushes our efforts towards a sustainable future for all the people of the Emirates, and this legacy must be the motive for every Emirati for the sake Enhancing sustainability, noting that “National Environment Day” celebrates the practices of sustainable grandparents as a basis for consolidating environmentally friendly behaviors in the hearts of future generations and creating solutions to all climatic and environmental challenges, and promoting sustainable development in all fields.
She said: The National Environment Day is an important opportunity for all members of society to contribute effectively in various areas of climate and environmental work for the UAE, as society is the main pillar on which the state builds its development plans for years and upcoming decades, and everyone must have the full awareness and capabilities that qualify him to be part of The system to enhance the position of the UAE is the global capital of sustainability and the future.
She added: The practices and activities of the Emirati society were not immune to the nature and the environment around it, but the Emirati society was still incubating the environment and nature, affected by it and influenced by what benefits it and ensures the sustainability and development of nature resources to last From the legacy of the founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, “may God rest his soul”, who said, “He who does not have a past has no present or future”, which is the approach that the UAE community is going in in all areas of life.
Her Excellency stated that the practices of the Emirati society diversified in the past and its interaction with nature in many forms and activities, as the environment formed a source of life, food and water, and the Emiratis devised many crafts and industries, but these practices extended for more than that to be a source of reconciliation, sports and hospitalization. The UAE society still preserves most of these practices, and even created new ways to develop and improve them.
