The UAE flag holds the opening ceremony of Amna Al -Muhairi, the ski player on the plate (Senopord) and the Canadian Sultan Al -Kindi player, where the opening ceremony was divided into three chapters under the slogan “The Dream of Winter, Love between Asia”.
The UAE participates in the course with 7 athletes, with 6 players and one player who compete in competitions in 3 varied sports, which are winding skiing, free skiing, and plate skiing (Snoward).
Our national team played their first training yesterday, Thursday, after they arrived in Harbin in a very cold atmosphere, as the temperature reached 24 below zero during the day, with the aim of getting used to places of competitions and quickly adapting to the continental event.
The UAE coach, Mohamed Ait Moulay, confirmed that the players have benefited from participating in the camp in Georgia, which aimed at conducting training under 3 different circumstances; It included training in the sun, fog, and ice falling in preparation for competitions in all weather conditions, indicating that all players have implemented the plans laid down and the training aspects during the camp.
Mohamed Ait Moulay added that the player Amna Al -Muhairi has ended her preparations in a European camp to determine her technical readiness, in addition to the player Alex Estridge, who concluded his camp in Italy and participated in an official championship, pointing out that all these steps come within the framework of the participating delegation to compete with The elite of Asian players in this event.
For his part, His Excellency Fares Mohamed Al -Mutawa, Secretary -General of the National Olympic Committee, affirmed that the participation of the Emirates delegation in the ninth edition of the Asian Winter Games Bahrin, with 7 athletes in 3 sports for the first time; It reflects the prosperity and development of winter sports in the country, and enhances its position and presence in the list of countries with distinguished levels in this aspect, in line with the vision and goals of the National Olympic Committee in promoting the concept of sports competition in all forums at all levels.
Al -Mutawa pointed out the importance of diversity in sports participation while achieving the achievement of it, and moving forward in the path of representing the country with efficiency and effectiveness in order to leave a positive imprint on the Emirates sport, and translate the support of the rational leadership of this important sector into concrete successes on the ground.
The Secretary -General of the National Olympic Committee praised the great efforts and continuous follow -up from the Emirates Winter Sports Federation to achieve the desired goals and focus on making this type of games more sustainable and effective, by forming a wide base of players, developing their capabilities and consolidating the state’s position in these sports.
Hamid Al -Ansari will compete after the Sabbar tomorrow, the skiing competitions (Snoward) in the men’s competition with the participation of 19 players from 11 Asian countries, while our players, Amna Al -Muhairi, participate in the plate skiing competitions for women with the participation of 9 players from 5 countries.
