Collaborate "Sharjah Literary" And the box "Spread" To enable new publishers

Sharjah, February 11 / WAM / The Sharjah Literary Agency concluded a strategic partnership, with the Sharjah Publishing Fund, “Antrus”, with the aim of enabling the new publishers and expanding horizons in front of them globally, in a new step to enhance the publishing industry in the UAE.

Under the partnership, the agency cooperates closely with graduates from the fund, and the shrine of their literary agent, who is facilitating their obtaining translation and publishing rights, in order to embody the agency’s commitment to empowering workers in the publishing sector, and providing them with opportunities for growth and prosperity in it.

The fund, which is worth 10 million dirhams, is a translation of the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, towards strengthening the knowledge economy and consolidating the role of the book in forming cultures and preserving heritage.

Tamer Saeed, director of the Sharjah Literary Agency, said that by working as literary agents for graduates from the Sharjah Fund for Publishing Sustainability, “Ashb”, the Agency Publishers will help secure translation and publishing rights and will provide them with comprehensive support in all their operations, starting with obtaining publishing rights and ending with success in publishing their work.

He added that the joint efforts contributed to enabling two graduates of the “Ashre” fund and helping them to secure the rights of translating 5 books, and in helping 10 graduates to complete the translation of 10 new books, and a group of graduates also submitted requests to obtain the support of the agency that works to provide services to them, expressing About his aspiration to enable all graduates and publishers to expand their access and spread at the global level and make a positive impact that enriches the literary movement.

For her part, Iman bin Shaybah, Director of Strategic Initiatives and Global Markets at the Sharjah Book Authority, affirmed the keenness to provide comprehensive training for publishers with the aim of enhancing the chances of their success in the book industry market.

She explained that translation rights require specialized experience and global relations in most cases, and for this it will provide this strategic cooperation with the Sharjah Literary Agency for the graduates of the Sharjah Fund to sustain publishing “Ashbar”, the additional support they need, especially graduates who are looking to exchange translation rights in the book industry.

The Sharjah Publishing Publishing Fund “Ashbar” represents a strategic response to the needs of the publishing industry, as Sheikha Badour Bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Book Authority in 2024, launched it within three basic paths: “Launch”, “Growth” and “Innovation”, to support each publishers At a certain stage of their pioneering trips in the publishing sector.

The “launch” path, which started in October 2024, chose 26 participants out of 140 candidates for his intensive training program, as he provided them with basic knowledge and resources related to the launch of startups specialized in the publishing industry.

The path of “growth” is targeting experienced publishers whose expertise ranges from 5-10 years who have released 50 – 150 books, focuses on business growth and expansion in the market and provides specialized training in the areas of improving operations and sustainable growth frameworks and enhancing attendance in the market. This comprehensive approach guarantees support publishers in All stages of developing their business.
