The conclusion of the activities of the Nouakchott Festival for Arabic Poetry

Nouakchott on February 13 / WAM / The Nouakchott Festival for Arab Poetry concluded yesterday evening the activities of the tenth session that was held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah and organized by the Department of Culture in Sharjah for 3 days with the active and distinguished participation of poets, intellectuals and critics Mauritanians and Africans from the countries of Mali, Guinea, Ghana and Senegal.

The closing ceremony was held in the House of Nouakchott Poetry in the presence of His Excellency Abdullah bin Muhammad Al -Owais, head of the Department of Culture in Sharjah and Muhammad Ibrahim Al -Qusayr, Director of the Department of Cultural Affairs in the department and Dr. Abdullah Al -Sayed, Director of the House and a group of writers and lovers of the poem.

The tenth session was distinguished by many events that moved between the attendees and the series of signatures of poetry collections issued by the Culture Department in Sharjah for the year 2025, and also presented a critical symposium that highlighted a remarkable research topic related to the Mauritanian poem.

The closing day witnessed a critical symposium entitled “The contemporary Mauritanian poem between originality and renewal” to clarify the position of poetry in the Mauritanian culture and its connection to identity and its active presence in contemporary life, as well as presenting a final poetry evening in which 4 poets participated.

The Nouakchott Arab Poetry Festival witnessed the issuance of 6 poetry collections of Mauritanian creators, stressing that the support of the Emirate of Sharjah for the publication sector contributes to creating an ideal environment for any creator.
