The UAE participates in an international conference in Paris on Syria and support its stability

Khalifa Shaheen Al -Murr, Minister of State, headed the UAE delegation to the international conference on Syria, which was held on Thursday in the French capital, Paris, and attended His Excellency Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic, as part of the conference in which the foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council states, the Secretary -General of the Council participated, and an foreign minister. This conference comes as a continuation of the Aqaba Conference “December 14, 2024” and the Riyadh conference “January 12, 2025” to discuss the situation in Syria and coordinate positions on achieving stability and supporting the political process to achieve a successful transitional stage that meets the aspirations of the Syrian people, and the expectations and standards of the international community in accordance with the relevant international resolutions.

The ministers also reviewed the challenges faced by the new authorities in Syria and the support aspects that can be provided to help them overcome the difficult conditions in order to build a stable Syria in which all groups and components of the Syrian people coexist in security, peace and harmony, free of extremism, violence and terrorism, and reconciling and cooperating with its geographical surroundings and all countries The region and the world.

In his intervention in front of the conference, Al -Murar stressed the position of the UAE keen to support the independence and sovereignty of Syria over its entire lands, and to support the legitimate aspirations of the Syrian people in security, stability, development and prosperity for the construction of a unified, stable and safe Syria, in which there is no terrorism, no extremism or exclusion..

Al -Murar expressed the UAE aspiration that the Syrian government’s transitional efforts to achieve peace and stability be crowned with success in a way that reflects positively on the entire region, given that Syria’s security and stability are a pillar of security and stability in the region.

He explained the importance of confronting extremism, terrorism, violence and hatred and its confrontation, as it is the greatest threat to the security and stability of the region and the safety of its peoples.

The UAE called on the international community to strengthen its efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Syrian people and help them achieve a successful transitional stage, a comprehensive political process and a university that achieves the hopes of the brotherly Syrian people in security, development and a decent life.

The UAE speech emphasized the pivotal role of the state in the efforts made to support peace and consolidate stability in the region, and its communication with regional and international partners to ensure the success of these endeavors in a way that benefits all the peoples and countries of the region.

At the end of the conference’s deliberations, a joint statement was issued expressing what the participants agreed to address the situation in Syria, and ways to support the brotherly Syrian people and the Syrian transitional authorities..
