"A caliph for date palm" It enhances agricultural and societal sustainability in line with Vision 2025

Abu Dhabi, March 15 / WAM / His Excellency Prof. Dr. Abdel Wahab Zayed, Secretary General of the Khalifa International Prize for Palm of Dates and Agricultural Innovation, affirmed the award’s commitment to promoting sustainable development through community initiatives that contribute to supporting the national economy, environmental protection, developing palm cultivation and dates, and dates, In line with the vision of the wise leadership of the United Arab Emirates, and within the framework of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the State, may God protect him, to allocate in 2025 years of society.

His Excellency the Secretary -General of the award explained that the Khalifa Date Palm Award launched many pioneering societal initiatives that are in line with the sustainable development goals, most notably the “International Dates Festivals Series”, which organized more than 53 international festivals in 8 countries producing dates, and “lectures series Virtual “that contributed to spreading scientific knowledge, as well as organizing competitions to open the way for creators in society.
His Excellency added that the initiatives launched by the award play a fundamental role in promoting environmental sustainability by encouraging the application of smart irrigation systems and using palm waste to produce organic fertilizers and animal feed, as well as enhance organic agriculture and combating pests using natural methods.

He stressed that the award is working to enhance societal awareness about the importance of palm cultivation and dates through awareness campaigns and scientific festivals and organize events targeting all groups of society, including farmers and students.
He pointed out that these initiatives contributed to developing the local economy and increasing productivity by opening new markets for Emirati dates.

With regard to the participation of institutions and individuals, his Excellency stressed that institutions can support these initiatives by adopting social responsibility projects, while individuals can enhance the consumption of local dates and participate in volunteer events.
He pointed out that the use of smart irrigation technologies and the training of farmers on the best agricultural practices, contributes to overcoming the challenges facing initiatives such as climate changes.

He stressed the importance of community initiatives in spreading a culture of sustainability and preserving natural resources in the Emirates.
