Trump is committed to putting an end to the war in Ukraine

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio reaffirmed the commitment of President Donald Trump to try to end the war in Ukraine during a phone call with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov on Saturday, according to a statement issued by his ministry.
US State Department spokeswoman Tami Bruce said that “President Trump’s commitment reaffirmed a solution to the conflict in Ukraine.”
She added that they “discussed, in addition, the possibility of working together on a number of other bilateral issues.”

The call between officials came after a call last Wednesday between US President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, during which they agreed to start “immediately” negotiations to end the war.
Trump also said that he would meet Putin in Saudi Arabia, and the Russian Foreign Ministry had announced shortly before the phone call between the two ministers, noting that Rubio and Lavrov agreed to resume the dialogue and “cooperation” in resolving the conflict in Ukraine.
