Geneva, February 19 / WAM / Sheikha Dr. Shamma bint Mohammed bin Khaled Al Nahyan, as a member of the United Nations Economic and Social Council, participated in the annual meeting of the Director General of the United Nations Office in Geneva, which was held yesterday “Monday” at the headquarters of the Nations Office United in Geneva, in the presence of representatives of civil society members in the office.
The discussions took place during the meeting, on the priorities and activities of the United Nations Office, and the participation of civil society in its work, especially in light of the rapid transformations and repercussions around the world and the influence of the international community and societal peace on these events, the importance of close cooperation between the United Nations and civil society institutions in order to support societal work to achieve The highest rates of ladder and coexistence.

She pointed to the experience of the UAE by launching a comprehensive strategy to confront hate speech, pointing out that the Anti -Discrimination and Hall Act was issued in 2015, which criminalizes the publication of any content that threatens national unity and encourages hatred or religious or ethnic discrimination via the Internet or any media outlets.
Sheikha Dr. Shamma Bint Mohammed explained that the UAE has established the Ministry of Tolerance, the first of its kind at the global level, which practices its work in promoting the culture of tolerance, coexistence and rejecting hate speech, and contributes effectively to building individual and collective awareness towards this through workshops, seminars and awareness campaigns Among the various groups of society.
It is mentioned that the UAE seeks through its governmental and private institutions to create a sustainable environment that enhances understanding and respecting the other; Which supports its vision as a country that lives on its soil more than 200 nationalities the relationship between them is based on coexistence and tolerance to reject hatred.
