The new Saudi riyal code

The accreditation of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques – may God protect him – for the symbol of the Saudi riyal comes in order to enhance the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s financial and economic identity at the local, regional and international levels.

The Saudi Central Bank sought that the Saudi riyal code is designed with the highest technical standards approved for it, which is applied globally in the well -known currency code.
The Saudi Central Bank, when designing the Saudi riyal, made the ease of its display, its use and distinction as a currency of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Enhancing identity and the Kingdom’s leadership role

The Saudi riyal symbol establishes pride in the national identity and cultural affiliation, as the symbol carries the name of our national work “Real” with a design inspired by Arabic calligraphy.
At a time when the Kingdom continues to achieve the Saudi Vision 2030, the launch of the Saudi riyal code strengthens the importance of the Kingdom’s regime and its growing role at the regional and international levels.

Supporting the Saudi national currency

The Saudi riyal code will enhance our national currency in the local, regional and international context, which makes it suitable for use when referring to the riyal in all financial and commercial transactions.
Also, the presence of the Saudi riyal symbol facilitates its use in financial and commercial transactions, on various platforms and applications.
The Saudi Central Bank led the project to adopt the national currency code, in partnership with a number of relevant authorities, including the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Information, and the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Authority.
