The National Council discusses with a delegation of the European Parliament to strengthen partnership relations
Abu Dhabi, February 24 / WAM / His Excellency Dr. Ali Rashid Al -Nuaimi, Chairman of the Defense, Interior and Foreign Affairs Committee of the Federal National Council, received a delegation of a group of relations with the Arabian Peninsula in the European Parliament, headed by His Excellency Rinenold Lablatka, at the headquarters of the Council in Abu Dhabi.
During the meeting, ways to enhance partnership relations between the Federal National Council and the European Parliament were discussed in various parliamentary, political, economic and cultural fields.
His Excellency Dr. Ali Al -Nuaimi stressed during the meeting the depth of the strategic relations that link the UAE to the European Union, noting the importance of strengthening parliamentary cooperation between the Federal National Council and the European Parliament in a way that contributes to achieving common interests and supporting regional and international stability.
The meeting was attended by the members of the Federal National Council: Sarah Muhammad Flunaz, Marwan Obaid Al -Muhairi, Khaled Omar Al -Kharji, Mira Sultan Al -Suwaidi and Saeed Rashid Al -Abedi, along with His Excellency Afra Al -Basti, Assistant Secretary -General for Parliamentary Communication in the Council.
His Excellency Dr. Ali Al -Nuaimi reviewed during the meeting the UAE diplomatic efforts in enhancing international peace and security, and achieving development and stability in the region, stressing that the relations between the UAE and the European Union are based on a solid strategic partnership that extends for decades, which included multiple fields such as politics, economics, security, and energy .
His Excellency explained that this relationship witnessed a tangible development, which requires continuing to strengthen it through a constructive and sustainable dialogue that serves the common interests of both sides.
His Excellency also welcomed the idea of launching a joint parliamentary platform to enhance sustainable parliamentary dialogue and coordinate common positions between the two sides, which contributes to facing regional and international challenges and consolidating the foundations of parliamentary cooperation between the Federal National Council and the European Parliament.
He stressed the importance of strengthening bilateral economic relations through the comprehensive economic partnership agreement “CEPA”, which aims to enhance trade and investment relations between the two sides, in addition to expanding cooperation in the areas of artificial intelligence, digital transformation, innovation, green energy, climate work, and sustainability.
His Excellency expressed the UAE’s aspiration to strengthen this strategic relationship in order to serve common interests and support future partnerships between the two sides.
For his part, His Excellency Reneold Luftka, head of the delegation of relations with the Arabian Peninsula in the European Parliament, praised the continuous communication between the Federal National Council and the European Union parliaments, stressing that the parliamentary interaction plays a positive role in strengthening bilateral relations and bringing views closer to various issues of common concern.
His Excellency stressed the importance of parliamentary cooperation in supporting the areas of strategic partnership, noting that the exchange of experiences and the enhancement of the mechanisms of joint cooperation will contribute to developing Emirati-European relations in order to achieve the common development goals of both parties.
