The fishing profession is one of the pillars of the state’s marine heritage and its history

Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al -Dahhak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, confirmed that the fishing profession in the Emirates is a basic pillar of marine heritage and state history, and an important economic activity that contributes to enhancing sustainable food security.
This came during the Al -Dahhak meeting, with state fishermen in the Jubail market in the city of Kalba, in the presence of a number of officials and heads of fishermen’s associations, where he discussed the mechanisms of promoting fishing and developing fish wealth within a comprehensive system to achieve the targets of the national strategy for food security 2051.
Al -Dahhak said, “The fishing profession and the fish wealth sector receives great attention from our wise leadership, which is keen to provide all means of support to the fishermen, to ensure the continuation and prosperity of this profession, but at the same time, this can only be achieved by achieving an accurate balance between the sustainability of economic activity For hunting and maintaining biological diversity and ensuring that endangered marine species are not drained, and that protect our marine resources A shared responsibility, which requires all of us to work in the spirit of one team to ensure a sustainable exploitation of this precious natural resource. “
She added, “In the context of our constant endeavor to preserve the biological diversity and endangered marine species, we are committed to promoting the sustainability of the entire fish wealth sector, including supply chains, and we work in cooperation with you to build a leading model in preserving the marine environmental balance, in a way that ensures the continuation of the natural fish stocks of generations Next.
She praised the pivotal role of fishermen’s associations in supporting the development process, and their tangible role in applying laws and regulations that guarantee the protection of marine species in order to preserve the marine ecosystem and biological diversity and ensure its sustainability.
The meeting discussed several axes of concern to fishermen, as Al -Dahhak listened to their requirements and opinions, and the most prominent challenges facing them, as the meeting reviewed the ministry’s vision and efforts in supporting fishermen and enhancing their role for the development of fish wealth, which is one of the most important possibilities for achieving food security in the state.
